Chicago: America's Police Repression Capital
Submitted on May 23, 2012Chicago's my home. I'm close to where protests occurred on the Michigan Avenue Bridge and nearby. Cops were everywhere. In partial lock-down, my building was affected. Some residents felt unsafe to go out. With well-armed police in riot-gear, knowledgeable Chicagoans know the risks of getting in harm's way. Anyone can be targeted for any reason. Cops are notoriously brutal. They have carte blanche authority to operate with impunity. They take full advantage.
Killing with Impunity
Submitted on May 23, 2012Systemic Israeli crimes against humanity include neighborhood incursions, unprovoked violence, air, ground and sea attacks, and killing with impunity. Daily offenses are commonplace. Rule of law principles are spurned. Palestinian lives don't matter. They're murdered in cold blood. Accountability is denied.

Submitted on May 23, 2012By Lauren Kelley - AlterNet
Although the majority of Americans now believe that gay and lesbian citizens should have the legal right to marry, homophobia obviously runs deep among many in this country. One of those raging homophobes is Pastor Charles Worley of the Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden, North Carolina, who recently told his congregation that "the queers and the homosexuals" should be "detained in camps" and left to die.
When it Comes to "Genocide," Guardian UK's George Monbiot has Pulled a Hitchens
Submitted on May 23, 2012By Michael McGehee - May 22, 2012
Christopher Hitchens fell from grace when he allowed his atheism to become a tool for Western imperialism...Now The Guardian UK's George Monbiot has pulled a Hitchens by allowing his outrage of "genocide" to become a tool for Western imperialism...It started last year with his tirade against writers David Peterson and Edward Herman over their book The Politics of Genocide. George just couldn't believe they wrote what they did. By challenging the popular narrative of what happened in Rwanda and Srebrenica they were guilty of being "genocide deniers."
Important Things Missing from Report on G20 Policing
Submitted on May 23, 2012By Krystalline Kraus - May 22, 2012
...[T]his report does nothing but in essence defend the state and the police from any wrong doing by not providing any real points of accountability or condemn any police or state tactics..."The OIPRD report is proof that Toronto police will when given the chance systematically do everything they can to hurt, harass and humiliate people..."

[I wrote this article ten years and two months ago, in March 2002. I'm reposting it now because it would seem to contain a lot of useful lessons for folks fighting neoliberalism today. Further reading about subsequent events in Argentina is suggested. -DOJ]

Submitted on May 23, 2012Wolf Lake forest reserve, in the north-east corner of Greater Sudbury, is one of the largest remaining fragments of old growth red pine forest, and the only recorded example of this threatened ecosystem that is self-sustaining. The Wolf Lake Coalition is urging the province to allow mining leases and claims in the area to lapse, so that it can be brought into the adjacent Chinguchi Waterw
