A lot's been happening at UC Santa Cruz lately. For one thing, the campus has been racked by labor conflicts as the service workers (AFSCME) and clerical staff (CUE) strike for a living wage and equitable treatment, organizing in partnership with the Student-Worker Coalition for Justice and the Grad Student Solidarity Network.
More is Less, a pamphlet by the Long Road Collective, is an attempt to contextualize this issue amid wider UC trends of destructive budgeting priorities, resource maldistribution, and non-accountable decision-making.
For detailed reports on these struggles as well as the heavy crackdown on dissent that's followed, check out Santa Cruz Indymedia.
I recently threw in my lot with Free Radio Santa Cruz's Feminist Radio Collective, on the air live every wedsnesday from 10am to noon.
You can listen to archives of recent shows i've co-hosted.
Finally, with the support of the UCSC Center for Cultural Studies, the Anarchism Research Cluster recently organized a one-day conference/dialogue called "Anarchism Now!"
